Lyrics
For everyone out there who thinks the apocalypse can be neatly organized, we bring you today’s prepper update.
The real mistake is assuming the disaster will be dramatic. It usually won’t. It’ll be something painfully ordinary: the generator won’t start, the batteries are dead, the radio only hisses, and the entire survival plan is suddenly resting on one torch, three tins, and a man who was “absolutely sure” he packed a lighter.
And that’s the thing about preppers — they prepare for collapse, not inconvenience. They’ve got a bunker, a checklist, and enough canned food to survive the fall of civilisation, but ask them for a working opener and suddenly it’s not a survival plan, it’s a very tense lunch. They love dried food too, because it sounds efficient, right up until you remember dried food still needs water, which is a bold strategy in the middle of the end of the world. “Save water by not using water” is the kind of thinking that gets you a shelf full of crackers and a future full of regret.
Their real enemy isn’t chaos. It’s the little failures. The lid that won’t come off. The torch that flickers and dies. The radio that gets static like it’s mocking you. The spare batteries that have been sitting there so long they’ve become decorative. That’s what disaster looks like: not flames, not sirens — just a man in a bunker saying, very quietly, “I knew I should’ve checked this.”.
More music in a moment, unless it doesn’t play because somebody forgot to request it.
