[The Changgwi (창귀) is one of the most chilling entities in traditional Korean ghost folklore (gwisin), deeply rooted in the historical dread of tiger attacks in ancient Korea. When a person was killed and eaten by a tiger, their soul was believed to be cursed and bound forever to the beast—specifically trapped beneath its chin or armpits. Unable to move on to the afterlife on its own, the Changgwi became a helpless accomplice to the tiger's violent nature. To escape its eternal torment, the ghost had to lure a replacement victim for the tiger to consume, passing the curse onto the new soul. The spirit would wander nearby villages, calling out to its former friends and family members in a hauntingly familiar voice or mimicking the sounds of distress to trick loved ones into entering the forest. Because of this belief, ancient Korean communities practiced strict rituals after a tiger attack, often refusing to visit or comfort the victim's surviving family out of fear that a Changgwi was actively targeting them next.] [Verse 1] Slain beneath the tyrant's jaw, a soul bound in the dark
Trapped beneath the tiger's throat, a cold and cursed mark
Enslaved within the rhythm of a predatory drive
A mind suspended in the beast, decaying while alive
Fractured remnants of a spirit crushed against the hide
Oscillating through the fog where human reason died
An unwilling catalyst designed to spread the stain
Surrendering its agency to serve the beastly chain
Spiral downward through the predator's throat
An anchor forged in black, a phantom afloat
Resonating through the timber and pines
To lure the unaware across the threshold lines
Shift the burden to a substitute skin
To break the cycle where the beast begins
[Verse 2] Vibrating in frequencies of voices from the past
Mimicking the cadence of a sorrow that will last
Echoing across the woods where sacred wardings fail
A calculated acoustic trap to tear away the veil
It pulls the closest kin inside through instinct to protect
Drawn into the center where the living intersect
The village stands in silent dread and cuts the family thread
Shunning those who mourn the lost to isolate the dead
[Chorus] Spiral downward through the predator's throat
An anchor forged in black, a phantom afloat
Resonating through the timber and pines
To lure the unaware across the threshold lines
Shift the burden to a substitute skin
To break the cycle where the beast begins
[Bridge] Symbiosis!
Sustenance!
Resonance!
Dissonance!
Divide the spirit from the form!
Dissolve into the rising storm!
Pass the weight onto another soul!
Realign this
fragmented whole!
[Verse 3] The arc completes, the strike descends, a swift and bloody end
The new vessel consumed to let the former soul ascend
Transplanting the anomaly, the curse moves down the line
A perpetual changing of the predator’s design
The ancient servant melts away into the cold dark space
Leaving behind a newly bound entity in its place
The rhythm of the forest shifts, the archetype survives
An endless wheel of sacrifice that claims a thousand lives
[Chorus] Spiral downward through the predator’s throat
An anchor forged in black, a phantom afloat
Resonating through the timber and pines
To lure the unaware across the threshold lines
Shift the burden to a substitute skin
To break the cycle where the beast begins
