The Last To Know

[Instrumental Intro]

[Verse 1]

You told the neighbors first

They heard it through the wall

Your sister knew by Tuesday night

And I knew not at all

I was mowing out the back

You were packing up the hall

[Pre-Chorus]

I guess I made it easy

I guess I made it simple

I was looking at the sunset

While you were drawing circles

[Chorus]

I was the last to know

I was the last to know

Everybody got the word but me

I was the last to know

(The last to know)

[Post-Chorus]

Oh-oh, la-la

Oh-oh, la-la

[Verse 2]

Your mother called it sad

Your brother called it late

I was stacking up the plates

Like nothing was at stake

There's a photo on the shelf

And a shadow where you sat

[Pre-Chorus]

I guess I made it easy

I guess I made it quiet

I was watching for a signal

While you were starting fires

[Chorus]

I was the last to know

I was the last to know

Everybody got the word but me

I was the last to know

(The last to know)

[Post-Chorus]

Oh-oh, la-la

Oh-oh, la-la

[Bridge]

Funny how the truth arrives

After all the guests have gone

Funny how a house survives

With the lights still on

With the lights still on

[Chorus]

I was the last to know

I was the last to know

Everybody got the word but me

I was the last to know

(The last to know)

[Post-Chorus]

Oh-oh, la-la

Oh-oh, la-la

[Chorus]

I was the last to know

I was the last to know

Everybody got the word but me

I was the last to know

(The last to know)
