Comedy Break 4 (Venus)

After playing in moon-saand, humanity looked ahead and said, “Right, let’s now pick one that isn’t trying to kill us quite as quickly.”

We keep hearing about Mars, which is fine, if your idea of ambition is moving to a vacuum freezer with a scenic view. But Venus is sitting there like an overlooked sibling at the family dinner. Closer, heavier on atmosphere, and just hostile enough to make the engineering exciting.

Down on the surface, Venus is absolutely committed to the bit: crushing pressure, blistering heat, and enough acid to strip paint off your optimism. But fifty kilometers up, the whole place suddenly calms and becomes almost civilized.

That’s the Venus pitch. Not “move there”, just “rise above the problem”. Very modern. Very ambitious. Very much the sort of thing that sounds insane until you look at your cards.
