Living Over Easy (Today's True Country)

[Verse 1]

Alarm clock screaming at a quarter past five

I roll out slow but I'm feeling alive

Boots on the porch and the skillet on the flame

Sunday morning sunlight coming through the pane

My daddy always said boy keep it plain and true

[Pre-Chorus]

So I stir it up slow

Watch the yellow start to glow

Ain't no fancy recipe

Just a little bit of me

[Chorus]

I live my life making bacon

Living over easy

Taking what the day gives

Keeping both hands greasy

I live my life making bacon

Simple as can be

Pour the batter out

And let it set me free

[Post-Chorus]

(Sizzle sizzle) that's the sound

(Sizzle sizzle) all around

[Verse 2]

My girl laughs at the mess I make

Flour on my shirt and a burnt-up steak

But she pulls a chair and she sits right down

Says the best kind of morning is the one we found

Two plates two forks and a radio tune

[Pre-Chorus]

And we talk about the week

Every promise that we keep

Ain't no five-star place

Just a smile on her face

[Chorus]

I live my life making bacon

Living over easy

Taking what the day gives

Keeping both hands greasy

I live my life making bacon

Simple as can be

Pour the batter out

And let it set me free

[Bridge]

Some folks chase the money

Some folks chase the crown

I chase the smell of butter

When the sun comes down

And I would not trade a single day

For a different kinda town

[Chorus]

I live my life making bacon

Living over easy

Taking what the day gives

Keeping both hands greasy

I live my life making bacon

Simple as can be

Pour the batter out

And let it set me free

[Post-Chorus]

(Sizzle sizzle) that's the sound

(Sizzle sizzle) all around

(Sizzle sizzle) that's the sound

(Sizzle sizzle) all around

[Outro]

Mm-hmm

Yeah over easy
