Lyrics
[Intro]
The hospital lights were buzzing bright
The nurses ran in twos
Dusty yelled, "Where's Stumpy now?"
He'd misplaced both his shoes
[Verse 1]
Stumpy came in sideways fast
With flowers and a pie
He hit the cart, apologized
Then asked if dads could cry
Dusty said, "You better breathe"
Then squeezed his hand real tight
He said, "I've faced the circus ring
But this one wins tonight"
[Verse 2]
The doctor checked the chart again
Then gave a nervous grin
She said, "There's one, then two, then three"
And Stumpy's knees gave in
He whispered, "Three whole babies now?"
Then hugged the nearest wall
Dusty laughed and said, "Stand up
You helped create this all"
[Pre-Chorus]
Then Dumpy burst through room twelve's door
Their circus friend from work
With balloons tied to a mop bucket
And gravy on his shirt
He said, "I came to calm the room"
Then tripped on his own pants
The nurse said, "Sir, please sit down now"
He said, "That's not my stance"
[Chorus]
Three babies crying, Stumpy sighing
Dusty laughing through the pain
Dumpy's dancing, charts are flying
Someone stepped into champagne
Nurses shouting, monitors beeping
Chaos wearing little socks
Three new clowns beneath the ceiling
Turned that room into a box
[Verse 3]
Stumpy told the babies proudly
"Dad survived a nasty clip"
Dusty said, "Don't tell them that"
And covered up his lip
Dumpy nodded, deadpan serious
"That tale still makes men pale"
Then dropped three tiny circus hats
Inside a diaper pail
[Verse 4]
Dusty winked and fixed her gown
Like old stage days were near
Someone mentioned staple props
And Stumpy plugged one ear
Dumpy said, "I've seen that act
It brought the whole tent down"
Dusty threw a pillow hard
And knocked him halfway round
[Pre-Chorus]
Then Dumpy froze beside the bed
His smile began to slide
He whispered, "Not again, dear friends"
And shuffled toward outside
The hallway crowd began to part
Like Moses split the foam
Stumpy said, "The restroom's left"
But Dumpy chose to roam
[Chorus]
Three babies crying, Stumpy sighing
Dusty laughing through the pain
Dumpy's dancing, charts are flying
Someone stepped into champagne
Nurses shouting, monitors beeping
Chaos wearing little socks
Three new clowns beneath the ceiling
Turned that room into a box
[Bridge]
The first one grabbed poor Stumpy's beard
The second stole his ring
The third one burped at Dumpy's face
Like born to rule the ring
Dusty said, "They've got your timing"
Stumpy said, "They've got your fire"
Dumpy said, "They've got my courage"
Then backed into medical wire
[Final Chorus]
Three babies blinking, Stumpy thinking
Dusty glowing like the sun
Dumpy bowing, nurses howling
Room twelve never came undone
Tiny fingers, tiny sneezes
Tiny futures wrapped in blue
Circus family, work friends cheering
Love arrived in groups of two
[Outro]
The hallway finally settled down
The babies slept in rows
Stumpy kissed his Dusty's hand
While Dumpy iced his nose
Dusty whispered, "Life just changed"
Stumpy laughed, "The show begins"
Dumpy waved and slipped again
Then blamed the floor for sins
