Crack Mallberry/ Oh Grandfather

[Intro]

Oh-oh

Mm-hmm

Grandfather

[Verse 1]

Grandfather kept a crate of malberry

Down in the cellar where the pipes all hum

He said boy don't you touch that fruit

Not till the summer comes

[Pre-Chorus]

So we waited

Lord we waited

Through the cold and the rain

For one purple stain

[Chorus]

Crack mallberry

Oh grandfather we did it

Crack mallberry

We finally split it

Sweet and sour on my tongue

Crack mallberry

Oh the two of us done

[Post-Chorus]

Oh-oh

Crack crack crack it open

Mm-hmm

Sweet sweet sweet unbroken

[Verse 2]

He wore his Sunday shirt and a crooked tie

Humming some old tune he could not place

We set the bowl between us on the table

And grinned at what we'd made

[Pre-Chorus]

Then he laughed

Then he cried

Said your grandmother would be proud

Of the mess we made tonight

[Chorus]

Crack mallberry

Oh grandfather we did it

Crack mallberry

We finally split it

Sweet and sour on my tongue

Crack mallberry

Oh the two of us done

[Post-Chorus]

Oh-oh

Crack crack crack it open

Mm-hmm

Sweet sweet sweet unbroken

[Bridge]

Seeds on the tablecloth

Juice on his chin

He said son that's how you know

You really lived it in

[Guitar Solo]

[Chorus]

Crack mallberry

Oh grandfather we did it

Crack mallberry

We finally split it

Sweet and sour on my tongue

Crack mallberry

Oh the two of us done

[Post-Chorus]

Oh-oh

Crack crack crack it open

Mm-hmm

Sweet sweet sweet unbroken
