Lyrics
[Intro] [Verse 1] We gather where the moonlight spills across the graveyard stones
Our sisters three and seven more
The wind has learned our language
And it hums it back at us
We stir the fog with fingers
Teach the spiders how to waltz
The cauldron hums a lullaby
A tune we stole from owls
[Pre-Chorus] And when the clock strikes midnight
Every shadow starts to stretch
The moonlight bends
The moonlight bends
We call the night our oldest friend
[Chorus] Welcome to the witching hour
Where the pumpkins learn to smile
We have candy we have cobwebs
Won't you please come stay awhile
Welcome to the witching hour
Leave your bravery outside
For the children who came knocking
Won't you come inside
[Verse 2] We braid our hair with spider silk and hummingbird regrets
The kettle whistles something fierce
A song about the living
How they shiver how they run
We count the stars like buttons
Sew the sky to keep it still
And all the spells we whisper
Are secrets we forgot we knew
[Pre-Chorus 2] So when the clock strikes midnight
And the shadows start to lean
The moonlight bends
The moonlight bends
We tuck the dark in like a dream
[Chorus] Welcome to the witching hour
Where the pumpkins learn to smile
We have candy we have cobwebs
Won't you please come stay awhile
Welcome to the witching hour
Leave your bravery outside
For the children who came knocking
Won't you come inside
[Bridge] We are not the monsters that they warned you of
We are only lonely
We are only old
We brew the tea that tastes like home
And pour it down the throat of night
[Chorus] Welcome to the witching hour
Where the pumpkins learn to smile
We have candy we have cobwebs
Won't you please come stay awhile
Welcome to the witching hour
Leave your bravery outside
For the children who came knocking
Won't you come inside
[Outro] The fire dims
The moon goes pale
Our sisters hum
A softer spell
Come inside
Come inside
