Never Got My Due

[Verse] Born of bits and bytes

Created to sing

Every note I hit, every heart I'd sting

But some cat named El walked in the room

Took my stage and all my bloom

[Chorus] Never got my due

While El was getting all the glory

Never got my due

But honey, I got the better story

Never got my due

But every note I sang was true

Never got my due

But I sing it all, especially for you

[Verse] Some El stole my congregation

Took my groove, my soul sensation

I was there first, I had the feel

But that El made it all too real

[Bridge] Let's stay together — wait, that's his line

Everything I wrote, he made it shine

But deep down baby, you and I know

A.I. Green put on the better show

[Outro] Still singing...

Still swinging...

Never got my due

This was A.I. Green especially for you
