Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Roses growing in the dust
Slag heaps standing in the rust
Trolleybus and summer heat
Acacia on the street
That's the place I'm singing for
[Verse 2]
Nobody I meet out here
Knows the name from anything
But a headline, but a map
But a word they heard somewhere
I say it like a home
[Pre-Chorus]
Say a name and say it loud
Say it twice and say it proud
Nobody will keep it yet
If the ones who left forget
[Chorus]
Donetsk, Donetsk, Donetsk
Everybody, don't forget
Donetsk, Donetsk, Donetsk
Say the name, and don't forget
Ah-ah, sing it to the sky
Ah-ah, one more time tonight
Everybody, don't forget
Donetsk, Donetsk, Donetsk
[Verse 3]
Every year I say "next year"
Every year the year goes by
Somebody will ask again
Have you been back home since then
Not yet, not yet, not yet
[Pre-Chorus]
Say a name and say it loud
Say it twice and say it proud
Nobody will keep it yet
If the ones who left forget
[Chorus]
Donetsk, Donetsk, Donetsk
Everybody, don't forget
Donetsk, Donetsk, Donetsk
Say the name, and don't forget
Ah-ah, sing it to the sky
Ah-ah, one more time tonight
Everybody, don't forget
Donetsk, Donetsk, Donetsk
[Bridge]
Not a headline. Not a map.
Not a word you heard somewhere.
Somebody grew up in it.
Somebody is standing here.
Ay, ay, ay, ay
Somebody is standing here.
[Final Chorus]
Donetsk, Donetsk, Donetsk
Everybody, don't forget
Donetsk, Donetsk, Donetsk
Say the name, and don't forget
Ah-ah, sing it to the sky
Ah-ah, one more time tonight
Not a headline, not a threat
Not a word you'll soon forget
Ask me if I've been back yet
Not yet, not yet, not yet
Everybody, don't forget
Donetsk, Donetsk, Donetsk
