Lyrics
[Instrumental Intro] [Verse 1] Six chandeliers
The king wants a waltz tonight
I strapped my stomping boots on tight
A servant girl with flour hands
Twirls a mop like a baton
[Pre-Chorus] Courtiers lean in close
To hear my ragged sound
Nobody here has ever danced
On such forbidden ground
[Chorus] [Guitar Solo] [Verse 2] A footman drops the silver tray
The duchess kicks her heels away
My boots go clomping down the hall
And every portrait starts to fall
The orchestra forgets its tune
The moon climbs through the ballroom soon
I grab the queen and spin her twice
She laughs and says it feels so nice
[Pre-Chorus] Trumpets lose their breath
The candles bow and sway
Nobody in this palace
Has ever danced this way
[Chorus] Boogie in the throne room
Wiggle in the wax
The king is tapping both his feet
And loosening his slacks
Boogie in the throne room
Swing the scepter round
Tonight the crown is coming down
To shake the royal ground
[Drop] Down down down
(Down down down)
Crown crown crown
(Crown crown crown)
Everybody bow to the beat
(Bow to the beat)
Shake the marble under your feet
(Under your feet)
[Bridge] (Clap clap) let the courtiers clap
(Stomp stomp) let the columns crack
(Sing sing) every maid and knight
(One two) we are dancing through the night
[Verse 3] The guardsmen lock the doors up tight
They want a piece of this delight
A bishop spins a serving maid
The chaplain's doing the masquerade
My flour-handed friend cuts in
She's grinning like a mandolin
We slide across the polished stone
And no one here is going home
[Chorus] Boogie in the throne room
Wiggle in the wax
The king is tapping both his feet
And loosening his slacks
Boogie in the throne room
Swing the scepter round
Tonight the crown is coming down
To shake the royal ground
[Post-Chorus] Oh oh oh oh
(Oh oh oh oh)
Here we go
(Here we go)
Oh oh oh oh
(Oh oh oh oh)
Watch it blow
(Watch it blow)
[Outro] One more waltz for the common crowd
(Common crowd)
One more stomp and we take our bow
(Take our bow)
Moonlight fading on the floor
(Fading on the floor)
We don't knock on palace doors
(We don't knock)
We kick them in
(Kick them in)
We kick them in
(Kick them in) [Instrumental Outro]
