Farewell

Lyrics
Farewell, my mother, let me go,
I'm dying now, I'm sinking low.
With sorrow burning in my chest,
Don't weep for me, don't grieve the best.
I could not live among mankind,
A cold poison dwells in my mind.
The things I lived for, loved so deep,
I wrecked them all in madness' sweep.
With prideful soul I walked apart,
And let true happiness depart.
I saw the blood that stained the ground,
And cursed both faith and love profound.
I drained the cup until the end,
My soul is poisoned, darkened, spent.
Now I'm fading in the quiet night,
But death brings peace, a lighter weight, a light.
I've wiped the mark of earth away,
Above the trembling dust I stay.
Let slaves of passion live their chase -
Such fire is loathsome to my grace.
This world is madness, a dreadful dream,
Life's just a funeral song's cold stream.
So now I end my days at last,
Singing my final hymn, my last.
And you, with anguish in your heart,
Don't cry in vain above my part.
