Lyrics
[Intro]
Mm
Mm-hmm
Yeah
I met a man who walked like thunder
Shoulders broad and a laugh like rain
He never asked for nothing from me
Just said my name like it was sacred
[Verse 1]
Superman standing tall
Say his name
He inspired this rhyme
Not even a week ago
He wore his heart outside his chest
No armor no shield no shame
And I watched him hold another man
Like the world had finally got it right
[Chorus]
Say his name
Say it slow
Say his name
Let it glow
He stood tall when the ground gave way
Superman standing tall
[Verse 2]
We met where the bass runs deep
Two shadows learning how to breathe
He kissed me soft then he kissed me mean
Told me pleasure ain't a thing to hide
I never knew a touch could teach
Could pull the timid from my spine
He said boy you better take your time
Then took his own and I lost mine
[Pre-Chorus]
Not even a week ago
I was smaller than my skin
Not even a week ago
Now I'm letting someone in
[Chorus]
Say his name
Say it slow
Say his name
Let it glow
He stood tall when the ground gave way
Superman standing tall
[Bridge]
Pull me close
Pull me closer
Tell me things you'd never tell
Move like water
Move like weather
Let me want you
Let me tell
Take me under
Take me over
Leave me shaking on the bed
Call me yours and call me twice
Say my name and lose your head
[Verse 3]
He don't flinch when the mirror talks
Wears his softness like a crown
Men like him get told to shrink
He just laughs and takes up room
I learned courage from his hands
Learned devotion from his voice
When he said I choose you freely
Every fear went quiet then
[Chorus]
Say his name
Say it slow
Say his name
Let it glow
He stood tall when the ground gave way
Superman standing tall
[Verse 4]
Now the days roll on without him
But his lesson lives in me
Be the one who stands up taller
Be the one who loves out loud
If they tell you who to cherish
Tell them love ain't up for vote
Say his name when nobody's listening
Say it proud and never fade
[Outro]
Say his name
Never a fade
Say his name
Never a fade
Stand tall
Stand tall
Say his name
