Brothers

[Intro] Yeah King of the walled city

Uh

Two parts god one part man

Let me tell it

[Chorus] I was the king with the crown and the tower

I was the king who could never be stopped

Then I met a man who could match my power

And the crown got heavy when the man got dropped

I was the king

[Verse 1] Born in Uruk with a fistful of thunder

Nobody told me no nobody wondered

Took whatever I wanted from whoever I found

Dragged the sons of the city all around

Then the gods sent a rival out of the clay

Wild hair wild heart wouldn't bow wouldn't obey

We wrestled through the streets till the rooftops shook

Two titans in a deadlock and the whole town looked

[Chorus] I was the king with the crown and the tower

I was the king who could never be stopped

Then I met a man who could match my power

And the crown got heavy when the man got dropped

I was the king

[Post-Chorus] Uruk Uruk

Watch the throne

Uruk Uruk

Watch it fall

[Verse 2] We went to the cedar and we cut it down

Killed the guardian beast with a furious sound

Brother beside me we were carved from the same stone

Then the bull came down and he didn't come home

I held his body I refused to let go

Seven days grieving in the dust and the woe

Every god in the sky turned a deaf ear

So I ran for the edge of the world in fear

[Pre-Chorus] Cause I can't die

No I can't die

Tell me how a man just lies down and dies

[Chorus] I was the king with the crown and the tower

I was the king who could never be stopped

Then I met a man who could match my power

And the crown got heavy when the man got dropped

I was the king

[Bridge] Crossed the waters of death on a ferryman's boat

Fought the scorpion men just to stay afloat

Found the one who survived the flood long ago

Asked him how to beat the grave asked him what he knows

He told me plant a seed that grows from the deep

He told me nothing lasts when you're trying to sleep

I dove for the flower and I pulled it from the ground

Then a serpent stole it while I laid my guard down

[Chorus] I was the king with the crown and the

[Outro] Yeah

Switch it up

Let the clay talk

Uh

Enkidu

Listen

[Verse 3] I was made in the wild by the hands of the gods

Half of me beast and the rest of me odds

Running with the gazelles drinking from the stream

Didn't know a king didn't know a dream

Then a hunter came crying said a monster in the brush

So they sent a priestess out to soften my rush

Seven nights in the tent and she tamed my chest

She said go to Uruk put your strength to the test

[Verse 4] I walked in the gate with my hair like a mane

Told the king to his face I ain't bowing again

He laughed in my face so we tore up the street

Doors off the hinges and blood on our feet

He couldn't drop me and I couldn't drop him

So we spit on the ground and we called it a win

That's my brother that's my other half

Nobody told me a man could have that

[Verse 5] We rolled to the forest with axes on our backs

Two men one heartbeat cutting through the black

Humbaba roaring and I grabbed him by the horn

Told Gilgamesh swing and the cedar got torn

I was the muscle I was the roar in the fight

I was the shadow that guarded his light

Then Ishtar came screaming with a bull made of sky

And I grabbed it by the throat told the king let it fly

[Verse 6] But the gods don't clap they just tally the cost

They said one of you two gotta pay for the boss

I got sick I got weak I got cold in the bed

Dreams of the underworld filling my head

Told my brother don't cry I ain't scared of the dark

I was born in the dirt I'll go back to the start

Twelve days I held on then I let it all go

And the strongest man alive couldn't stop the flow

[Bridge] So when you hear the king hollering my name

That's a man who got humbled by the clay and the flame

I ain't a god I ain't a ghost I ain't a myth

I'm the friend that he carries every step that he lift

Tell him plant that seed tell him live it out loud

Tell him strength ain't nothing if you're standing alone in the crowd

I'm the beast I'm the brother I'm the hand on his back

I'm Enkidu

And I ain't coming back

[Chorus] He was the king with the crown and the tower

He was the king who could never be stopped

Then he met a man who could match his power

And the crown got heavy when the man got dropped

He was the king
