Ominous Mountains

[Instrumental Intro]

[Verse 1]

Grandmother told me stay away

From the peaks where the cold wind learns to scream

She lost her husband lost her sons

One winter took them all in a single raid

So she climbed where no one follows

[Pre-Chorus]

Awaxaawippíia

The stone remembers what the living forget

Awaxaawippíia

Nobody walks back down the same

[Chorus]

Ominous mountains

Where the thunder keeps no promise

Ominous mountains

The sky shifts when you're not looking

And the woman on the ridge is still walking

[Post-Chorus]

Oh-oh

Still walking

Oh-oh

[Verse 2]

They named her crazy

Named the whole range after her grief

But the Crow knew better

Knew the land could turn on you

Could hide you

Could swallow a hundred horses and their riders

[Pre-Chorus]

Awaxaawippíia

The stone remembers what the living forget

Awaxaawippíia

Nobody walks back down the same

[Chorus]

Ominous mountains

Where the thunder keeps no promise

Ominous mountains

The sky shifts when you're not looking

And the woman on the ridge is still walking

[Post-Chorus]

Oh-oh

Still walking

Oh-oh

[Bridge]

I hear her humming to the rock

I hear the drums beneath the snow

Wild wind wandering wild woman wandering

Both of them refuse to go

Both of them refuse to go

[Chorus]

Ominous mountains

Where the thunder keeps no promise

Ominous mountains

The sky shifts when you're not looking

And the woman on the ridge is still walking

[Post-Chorus]

Oh-oh

Still walking

Oh-oh

Still walking
